Job Description

Primary Purpose:

Programmer/Analyst role, delivering technical solutions for key stakeholders’ business requirements by analyzing business needs, developing effective applications, conducting user acceptance testing and troubleshooting errors to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of developed programs.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Software Development and Support for Lender Placed tracking/issuance applications of the National General Lender Services division. 
  • Deliver effective applications for business use by analyzing business requirements and consulting with key stakeholders to clarify and ensure program specifications and technical solutions align with business needs
  • Build applications by translating specifications into programming language and forecasting solutions to anticipated problems to ensure effectiveness of programs for business use
  • Foster a thorough approach to finalizing developed applications by participating in testing of functionality and analyzing sample data-sets to ensure accuracy of program output and support the achievement of quality assurance and key stakeholder standards
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders by participating in design and code reviews and escalating issues to troubleshoot errors and gaps, refine processes and technical standards and ensure continual effectiveness of team deliverables
  •  Provide accurate record-keeping by writing detailed documentation for the operation of programs to facilitate user understanding of application functioning

Minimum Requirements:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or equivalent work experience required.
  • Five plus years of Application Development Experience required.
  • Working knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle requirements and best practices, including appropriate separation of duties and data security practices.
  • Detailed knowledge of structured technologies including COBOL, BASIC, ISAM, VSAM, DB2, SQL (or any relational database).
  • Real world experience and application development in COBOL, BASIC or Python, PHP, Java, XML, HTML

 

Desired Skills

  • Linux operating systems, Data Integrator (Data Junction), Web API Development, Ruby
  • Experience with Code Release management tools
  • Knowledge of the industry technologies that support the lender placed insurance line of business is strongly preferred.  This includes knowledge of the insurance and escrow functions of leading mortgage servicing systems.
  • Experience with NGLS applications is a huge plus.
